Madrid Spain.- A traffic accident that occurred this Wednesday afternoon in Florida, Camagüey, left seven people injured.
As reported through Facebook local reporter Yunier Soler Castellanos, the accident happened on a section of the central highway that crosses the rural community of Otero in the Florida municipality, when a passenger bus tried to overtake another vehicle.
When trying to overtake, improperly, one of the tires collided with the wall of a water culvert, which caused the bus to overturn on the side of the road, the information specifies.
The injured, residents of the municipalities of Santa Cruz del Sur (1), Esmeralda (2), Florida (1), Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (2) and Camagüey (1), were transferred to the Manuel Piti Fajardo Municipal Hospital in said territory. .
According to statements by the Director of the Municipal Health Sector in Florida, Nelson del Sol Serrallonga, they were classified with the “Yellow Code”, so they are out of danger. Although, two of the patients had to be referred to the Manuel Ascunce Domenech Provincial Hospital, due to head trauma, loss of consciousness and possible chest trauma.

While at the beginning of the same month five people lost their lives for an accident on the road to San Juan y Martínez, Pinar del Río.
The accident occurred when a light car collided with a Cupet tanker car without fuel, after the former lost control after a tire burst.
According to official data, during the first six months of 2022, 4,871 traffic accidents were registered in Cuba, leaving a balance of 346 deaths and 3,565 injuries.
For the first semester of 2022, all provinces increased accidents by 93% compared to the previous year, except for the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality.
According to the Cuban Government, the main causes of accidents are speeding, not respecting the right of way, the consumption of alcoholic beverages, technical problems and driver distraction.
In addition to these causes, the poor condition of the roads and the country’s aging vehicle fleet, where cars over 50 years old, also influence the high number of accidents. To this are added the poor signage on the streets, the lack of lighting and little road education.
