This was announced during a press conference by the Spanish ambassador in Asunción, Carmen Castiella Ruiz de Velasco, when announcing the “Aires de España” program.
The diplomat explained that, on the one hand, they seek to deepen the presence of Spain in Paraguay and, in addition, invite Paraguayans to accompany them in the “celebration of the intense relations of friendship” between the two countries.
Throughout October, cultural, sports and gastronomic events will be held, as well as those related to climate change and health, with an emphasis on women.
One of the axes, the official anticipated, will be “the enhancement of Spanish cuisine” through the tasting of products and live cooking events in different stores in the country.
Cooperation will be another of the pillars of the program, since, according to Castiella, “Spain has been accompanying Paraguay for more than 30 years in its efforts to generate prosperity and greater equality.”
In this context, they reported that on October 19, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day to Fight Breast Cancer, they will attend the inauguration of the ninth Comprehensive Center for Women in the city of Caacupé (located about 59 kilometers south of Asunción), supported by Spanish cooperation.
They will also deliver mammographs in other parts of the country.
Similarly, and as part of the Climate Action Week of the European Union, walks will be held on October 20 and 22 through the Bernardino Caballero park in the Paraguayan capital.
Among the cultural activities, the exhibition “Reactivating videographies” stands out, coordinated by the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome, which includes video art works from Spain, Italy and Latin America and which in the Paraguayan chapter will have works by Paz Encina, Joaquín Sánchez and Alejandra Mastro .
In addition, the artistic group La Orquesta will present, together with the National Ballet of Paraguay, “El Amor Brujo”, by the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla, with the participation of the Argentine mezzo-soprano Anahí Fernández.
