Gol Líneas Aéreas will resume the route savior (the capital of the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil) with Montevideo for the summer season 2023, starting next Januaryreported the company.
The airline indicated that the return of that route “represents a new advance in the resumption of Gol flights abroad from November 2021, after the suspension of these operations in March 2020 due to the pandemic.” Montevideoo, one of the company’s main destinations in South America, was the first international route to resume, in November 2021.
Currently, there are 10 direct weekly operations between Guarulhos airport and Uruguay. As of this October 1, there will be a total of 14 weekly flights from Montevideo to Brazil.
The route Salvador (SSA) – Montevideo (MVD)which will be the only one with departure from the northeast towards the Uruguayan capital, will start on January 7and so much the outward as the return will be held on weekends. Flight G3 7036 will depart from the capital of Bahia on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and will arrive at 12:05 a.m. the next day. Meanwhile, flight G3 7037 will leave Montevideo at 01 on Sunday and will land in Salvador at 05:10.
“Uruguay, especially Montevideo, is a traditional market among Gol’s clients and of great importance to the company. We returned to the Uruguayan capital in November of last year, departing from Guarulhos with the certainty that we would fly again from the northeast of Brazil soon. Now, we are the only company that offers a direct connection between a northeastern state and Montevideo. In this way, we will encourage the flow of clients who travel for pleasure during the summer, whether they are Uruguayans who seek the beaches and the historical and cultural heritage of Bahia,” said Gol’s Air Network Planning Manager, Bruno Balan.
The state of Bahia became the flight distribution center for the Brazilian company, with more than 50 daily departures from Salvador, the Bahia Coast and other cities in the interior.
“We had already launched charter flights from Uruguay to Salvador, but the objective was the regular flight, which is now a reality thanks to Gol’s determination. The governments of Bahia and Uruguay have held talks with the company to acquire the Montevideo-Salvador line, an exclusivity in the northeast. The state’s work to expand Bahia’s international air network will continue, in the search for new Gol flights to destinations in Bahia,” said Bahia Secretary of Tourism Mauricio Bacelar.
Gol’s flights between Salvador and Montevideo will be operated by the Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which has capacity for 176 passengers.
