First day of activities
On the first day of activities, culture ministers and representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belize, Bukina Faso, Chad and Ukraine spoke out for the promotion and defense of culture in the face of the threat posed by the health crisis, climate change and the violence that affects several nations, as in the case of this last nation.
“Let’s not lower our arms,” argued the French minister, Rima Abdul Malak, who stressed the importance of being in solidarity with Ukraine, given the threat to its territory from Russia.
The Libyan Minister, Mabroukah Toughi, stressed that the world and Libya face many challenges in all areas and the cultural one is no exception.
He hoped that the importance of human values would be strengthened during the event, while he spoke out for an international Observatory for peace and security.
Separately, Ernesto Ottone, deputy director of UNESCO, stressed that there are only three global cultural meetings: two of them in Mexico and one in Stockholm, hence he stressed the importance of these types of events being held more regularly. .
“It’s the question we all ask. Why 40 years? Why wait 40 years? Why does education have conferences like these every two years? Why does science have meetings every four years, and why has it cost culture so much to organize this type of conference? ”, He reproached.
In this sense, he highlighted the “guts” of Mexico to carry out this type of event, which brought together the world of culture in search of promoting public policies for the benefit of society.
