The Public Ministry asked the Social Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice to participate in the hearing to be held this Thursday, September 29, and that will put an end to the lawsuit for non-pecuniary damage caused to a student from the Campo Alegre School, sources from the judicial system said. .
This moral damage was caused by William James Vaheyof American nationality, who was a professor at the aforementioned school between 2002 and 2009, a period in which he organized trips to Costa Rica and Panama where he abused 30 students, according to a file substantiated by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and reported to the Campo Alegre School.
Of the 30 Venezuelan victims, only one filed a civil lawsuit before the Lopnna courts in Caracas where the complaint was dismissed because the events occurred outside of Venezuela, according to the judgment of Judge Betilde Araque Granadillo (3rd Judgment), endorsed by Aurimar Cáceres Rojas (Superior 3rd), according to the sentences.
Precisely that same criterion is the one that the Public Ministry will presumably invoke in the hearing convened by the Social Chamber of the TSJ. There is also a letter sent to Rosa Isabel Reyes Rebolledo, president of the Lopnna Judicial Circuit in 2015, where the victim, through her representatives, requests a hearing to denounce that she was excluded from the process, for having reached the age of 18 during the course. Of demand.
Said communications did not obtain an effective response, according to subsequent complaints.
A representative of the Ombudsman’s Office will be present at the hearing scheduled for September 29, as agreed by the Social Chamber.
