More than 200,000 people will benefit from the construction of a new market in the Chilibre sector, this after the mayor of the district of Panama, José Luis Fábrega, delivered, this Wednesday, September 28, the order to proceed for its construction.
According to Fabrega, the market will have 50 modules for the sale of fruits and vegetables, in addition to grocery stores, soft drinks, bakery, confectionery, ice cream, fried foods and meat (beef, pork, poultry), seafood and sausages.
Within the market there will also be shops, handicrafts, municipal services, green areas, recreation spaces, parking lots and a wide gastronomic offer to promote typical Panamanian food.
The mayor highlighted that the construction of this work will generate about 200 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs.
He reported that the project, at a cost of 11 million 998 thousand dollars, should be completed in 13 months.
“With this, the RIMMU Market Network grows to bring fresh, quality food at low costs and close to the homes of all citizens of the capital district,” he said.
He also announced that next October 24 the Pacora Peripheral Market will be inaugurated and the next year the Pueblo Nuevo Market. While waiting for the endorsement of the Comptroller for the start of the works of the Las Cumbres Market and Mayor Díaz.
Regarding the new seafood market, he said that they await the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice and that if it is approved, it will be carried out, but if they deny it, then it will not be carried out. “We are law-abiding,” he concluded.
