Miguel Godoy resigned from the Ombudsman’s Office at noon on Wednesday. His cabinet director Carmelo Núñez was in charge of submitting his resignation. He decided to leave the position for health reasons, according to what is read in the resignation note, the now former official suffers from colon cancer.
“I have come to present my resignation from the position of ombudsman for which I was elected for the period 2021 to 2026. No complaint has been filed about me, but my fight against cancer is much more important. I appreciate the support of 150 officials and 60 officials, I also appreciate the support of my bench (“Honor Colorado”)”, reads the note.
Pedro Alliana, president of the ANR, affirmed in the morning hours that Godoy himself was informed of the withdrawal of support for his administration. With this, the votes already existed to achieve impeachment.
