Santiago.- Hundreds of people marched this morning through the streets of this city called by a group of organizations headed by the Dominican Medical Association against the Health Risk Insurers (ARS) and the Pension Fund Administrators (AFP).
From the early hours of the morning, hundreds of people gathered in the Ercilia Pepín Park, in front of the José María Cabral y Báez hospital with posters and banners demanding that the AFPs return the money to the workers, among other allusions to their demands.
From the park, the representatives of the organizations calling for the march left for Avenida Las Carreras to go up to the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration
The activity led by the Dominican Medical Association (cmd) and the Collective for a Decent Social Security, Lawyers and workers’ organizations was the second held in the country.
Its coordinators assure that they will continue their fight until the AFPs agree to return the savings of the workers and for the Health Risk administrators to be eliminated so that the Government assumes the Social Security that has only served for financial groups to make great fortunes.

Osvaldo Brito, one of the spokesmen for the protest, deplored the fact that an insured worker pays his insurance religiously every month, but that when it comes to going to the doctor with a health problem, the ordeal is that insurance does not cover a large part of the costs.
They explain that this is the situation in which the famous co-payments for health services, tests, consultations and the costs of surgeries and hospitalizations enter.
The previous march was held in Santo Domingo on September 7, where a large crowd of workers and professionals from various areas and organizations gathered.
Professional groups, led by doctors, have been denouncing for some time the “outrages” of the ARS and the AFP. Among the groups are Falpo, Green March, Faprouasd, ADP, student groups and others.
They say that the Social Security Law must be modified because it is exclusionary.
