In nine years the ITSC has delivered 4,400 professionals to the country

Doing a university degree for many in the Dominican Republic is a headache due to financial limitations that prevent them from paying for their studies. For these dreamers, on January 13, 2013 the Community Higher Technical Institute (ITSC) with a sea of ​​opportunities specifically for residents of Santo Domingo East, because it is located in saint Louis.

Despite being located in that secluded community, at ITSC arrive students from all over the country due to the facilities provided by the school. Lunch at low cost, $ RD 45.00, a commissary where they can and are provided with expendable material for the practices. In addition, the entity in is in negotiations with different organizations to provide transportation for free to the students.

“We are working so that when we reach full pre-specialization, we have those agreements signed so that the students have greater ease to get to and from here, “said the rector of the ITSC, Francisco Vegazo Ramirez.

This center teaches 26 short-term careers (seven semesters) with a total investment of only RD $3,500, that is, RD $500 for each quarter.

Among the careers that are currently available we can cite Hospitality Y sightseeing, what includes: Gastronomy, Tourist information, Management accommodation, Food Service and Drinks, among other; in the industrial area are Technology Manufacturing and Logistics.

Within the arts they teach careers Designs from Fashions, Graphic, Interior, Photography, Furniture Industry and Event Production.

They also specialize students in different areas of health, electromechanics and informatics.

Upon arriving at the facilities of the ITSC At first glance you can see a magnificent work that houses several buildings in which different careers are taught, however, when entering its corridors and classrooms you can notice the deterioration that it has been suffering over the years. It is that since its opening it has not been given maintenance.

“We have enough difficulties because these buildings they have received very little maintenance since their construction to date ”, revealed the rector Vegazo Ramirez.

While it is waiting for the Ministry of Public Works to conclude the bidding process to start the “total remodeling” of the entire physical area of ​​the professional technical training center. These works had an approximate cost of 56 million pesos.

Likewise, he advocated for an increase in his budget to be able to give more and better service to the educational community. At present the ITSC it has a budget of 530 million pesos.

4,400 graduates

Since its founding to date, about 4,400 students have graduated from ITSC with the advantage that they have a greater opportunity for labor insertion because most of their careers are taught in a practical way and are adjusted to the national productive sector.

“Our strength is academic and the high rate of employability that our graduates have due to the high quality of the educational and academic service that we offer,” he said.

Anniversary

On the 13th of this month the ITSC will arrive at its ninth anniversary and in order not to miss this important date in the midst of the health crisis that affects the country as a result of the COVID-19, his rectory, has already scheduled the celebration of a mass either in the institute or in a nearby church.

In addition to the customary raising of the national flag, at 9:00 in the morning of that day, they will place a wreath on the bust of the patrician Juan Pablo Duarte, which is located on the Las Américas highway.
