Rains of #27Sep caused flooding in the city of Barquisimeto

Since the afternoon of Tuesday, September 27, users on social networks reported heavy rainfall in the state of Lara that affected cities such as Barquisimeto and Carora, with the state capital being the most affected.

The rains, product of the “tail blow” left by Hurricane Ian on its path to the north of the American continent, generated heavy rainfall and electrical discharges, which caused flooding in several homes and roads in Barquisimeto; as well as causing trees to fall on several city roads and water to be reported inside facilities such as the Cathedral and the city’s Central Hospital.

The Antonio Herrera Gutiérrez stadium, the home of the Cardenales de Lara, was also damaged by the rains.

The mayor of the Iribarren municipality, Luis Jonás Reyes, reported that four parishes were affected by the rains: Concepción, Catedral, Santa Rosa and Unión, which affected vehicles, municipal markets and homes, according to reports Momentum.

Multiple power fluctuations have been reported in various areas of the city, and parts of the center and west remain without power.

For his part, the director of Civil Protection in Lara, Luis Mujica, reported that at least 25 trees fell in Barquisimeto due to rainfall.

He commented that both that security body and the Fire Department are active to meet the needs of the Larense population. Likewise, he pointed out that the citizen security agencies are also providing their services for the well-being of all people.

Later, the governor of Lara state, Adolfo Pereira, reported that several crews were deployed in the city of Barquisimeto to clear public roads of fallen trees. Similarly, he stated that there were damages in two electrical substations that affected the supply to the west of the entity.

In Carora, users on social networks reported that hail fell in the midst of an electrical storm. In addition, they also reported flooding in the Calicanto church and in several streets.

According to the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, InamehCloudy intervals with rains are expected for this Wednesday in the Andes, Central West, Central and Western Plains regions, while isolated drizzles are expected in the North Coastal Center, Delta Amacuro, Bolívar and Amazonas in the morning hours.

For the night, there will be an increase in cloudiness with stormy showers in areas of the Andes, North Coastal Center, Northeast, Delta Amacuro, Bolívar and Amazonas.
