Chihuahua, Chih., Relatives of 13 migrants who were deprived of their liberty and disappeared on September 25 of last year on the Coyame-Ojinaga highway, allegedly at the hands of organized crime, demonstrated in front of the Chihuahua government palace where they claimed for the lack of progress in the investigation of the case and demanded greater intervention from the federal government to find their relatives.
Mothers, wives and minor children of migrants from the state of Chihuahua protested yesterday at the cross of nails, placed in front of the government palace, and interrupted traffic on Carranza street to demand that the state and Federation authorities speed up the search jobs.
They explained that the last communication with their relatives were messages and phone calls, which they exchanged when the migrants passed through gaps that connect the municipalities of Coyame and Guadalupe with the Lomas de Arena ranchería, in the municipality of Ojinaga.
They recalled that a minor who was part of the group was found by Border Patrol agents in Texas, that the 13 migrants were held by armed individuals in the desert, before reaching the Rio Grande, and were loaded into three trucks.
In addition, they raised those who deprived the migrants of their liberty: If for their reasons they took their lives, we assume that what they owed was settled, but what do we owe them? Today we, as families, owe us, help us, we are not looking for blame
.
According to the Chihuahua Prosecutor’s Office, between 2020 and 2021, 147 complaints were received for the disappearance of migrants, of which 67 were addressed and the people were located, but the whereabouts of those who make up the remaining complaints are unknown.
