After corruption scandal that splashed the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications, at the head of the then Minister Karen Abudinen, about a billionaire contract that had multiple irregularities, in the last hours it was known the first conviction of one of those involved.
Its about businessman Jorge Enrique López, who confessed his role within this network of corruption and reached an agreement with the Attorney General’s Office.
According to audios revealed by NotiCentro CM&, López was the key token in the process to authorize an advance of 70 billion pesos of said contract through the manipulation and falsification of documents.

Apparently, there would have been three documents modified illegally by the employer to achieve said advance, which to date It has not been recovered by authorities.
“These guarantees were being presented to the Ministry of Technology both for the award of the contract and for its fulfillment. therefore he [Jorge Enrique López] I was fully aware that this document was necessary”, explained one of the prosecutors of the Anticorruption Unit that is carrying out this case, making reference to how the employer would have falsified the information.
After the investigations, the confession and the agreement reached with the Prosecutor’s Office, The businessman was sentenced to four years in prison.

In addition to this, Jorge Enrique López must repay in the next few days the sum of $187 million as part of his sentencein which he was accused of falsity in a private document and procedural fraud, crimes that he accepted before a judge of the Republic.
The outlet also revealed that the Prosecutor’s Office would have an agreement ready with Emilio Tapia, the contractor involved in this scandal.
Nevertheless, so far they have not been able to recover the totality of said disbursement for 70 billion pesos, since those investigated argue that the money was invested in the purchase of equipment.
