An internal letter from the Federal League sector, with accusations against Andrés Lima – current mayor of Salto and leader of the group – stirred up the waters in the political community. The founder of the industry came out to support the communal chief.
The letter – to which he agreed The Observer– It is addressed to the National Federal Council of the League and does not bear a signature, although it attributes the complaints to “historic partners” from the departments of Flores, San José, Paysandú, Canelones, Colonia, Soriano, Florida and Cerro Largo. The text attributes to Lima having been “destroying” the Federal League, and having brought a policy “full of vices and bad practices”.
The letter begins by recalling the withdrawal from political activity of the former deputy of the sector, Darío Pérez, in the run-up to the departmental elections. Pérez, until then the visible face of the Federal League, left the Broad Front and today works in Maldonado together with the white mayor Enrique Antía. The letter warns that this fact “led to a vacuum in the sector”, which Salta Lima came to remedy after expressing his interest in joining the group.in dialogue with the leaders José Maldonado and Sergio Mier.
After the annexation of the communal chief as the visible face of the Federal League, Mier presented his resignation to the general secretary of the sector within the framework of a Federal Council held last year in Trinidad, Flores.
“In that same congress, it was proposed that the management and leadership of the sector be exercised by Andrés Lima. Then, the withdrawal of a referent and historical leader of the Federal League, such as Sergio “Pato” Mier, and the arrival (already leading) of Andrés Lima, that although it violated the statutes due to the term required to hold that position there was consensus –with the reservations that each one might have in this regard–, at first optimism reigned and the expectations put in the companion”, they expose.

The Federal League achieved an unprecedented vote in these internal elections, catalyzed by the devastation generated by the 1813 list in Salto, concentrating more than half of the frontist votes. “Many historical comrades ceded places (for the common good) to supposed comrades who participated for the ENFA on our list and who in the end contributed little or nothing and today almost nothing is known about them, and we know about some that they are already militating in other stores”, affirms the letter, which although it attributes the electoral success to the mayor of Salta, slips: “We are not going to stop detailing the first-hand information from Salto that tells us how Lima achieved such an electoral success”.
The complainants maintain that the man from Salta continued with “tours as he pleased”, “dispensing” even with the name of the Federal League “according to his convenience”. “He never went out to make his trips accompanied by fellow Federal Leaguers as he had promised,” they accuse, before concluding: “Today, more than a year after his entry, Lima has been destroying what the Federal League is”.

José Maldonado, one of the founders of the Federal League and a delegate to the FA Political Committee, stated that “the letter is not signed by anyone”, even though they take it for granted that the person responsible is Marcelo Montes, a Canarian leader “who does not want Andrés Lima”. “Formally (the letter) was never presented to the sector with a signature, but if that were the case, the transfer to the ethics commission would have to be evaluated due to the falsehoods it handles.
