The Junín Regional Health Directorate reported that today the fifth case of monkeypox in the Junín region and it is about a young man of only 21 years who lives in the province of Chanchamayo. The respective epidemiological fence has been deployed around him.

As it is recalled, today the fourth case was also reported of a 17-year-old boy who was diagnosed in Essalud de Lima but later when they went to look for him they found out that he had already traveled to Jauja. “There he has finally been complying with a quarantine together with his wife and his 6-month-old son who would be suspects,” said Luis Zúñiga Villacresis, regional director of Salud Junín.
The official recommended that the population, to prevent the disease, avoid direct contact with rashes or skin lesions of an infected person, avoid having multiple sexual partners, use the mask correctly and avoid touching contaminated materials such as utensils, towels or bedding from an infected person.

Monkeypox is a disease that lasts 2 to 4 weeks, consists of three phases:
- Incubation that develops between 5 to 7 days and there is no transmission.
- The presence of symptoms: they start with symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle pain, fatigue, swollen glands and there is a risk of contagion.
- The development of vesicles (blisters), pustules (cavities filled with pus) and the appearance of crusts in various parts of the body.
