MADRID, Spain.- The Provincial Transport Company reported that the public passenger service will be gradually eliminated in Havana in order to avoid accidents, protect the means and human lives in the event of Hurricane Ian.
According to an informative note published by the official media Tribune of Havanathe Provincial Road Safety Commission urged the population to comply with the established provisions, as well as to pay attention to the guidelines, to avoid traffic accidents.

“Due to the passage of Hurricane Ian, and its possible trajectory, it is necessary to apply organizational measures, aimed at guaranteeing safe mobility,” the entity said.
Among these measures, he mentioned that as soon as the weather conditions began to deteriorate, the population, and in particular vehicle drivers, are recommended to stay in a safe place, avoid unnecessary movements, stay away from places of possible flooding. or landslides, park vehicles in safe places and away from sites prone to flooding.
Interprovincial transport was also suspended in the west of the country.
“The interprovincial passenger services provided by the National Bus Company are suspended at departures and arrivals in the provinces of: Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Havana, Mayabeque, Matanzas and Cienfuegos,” said journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso through Facebook.
For their part, several airlines, including American Airlines and Copa Airlines, suspended their flights to the José Martí International Airport in Havana.
On Monday afternoon, Hurricane Ian reached category 2, with winds of 155 km/h.
