From this Tuesday, September 27, only the passage of trucks of up to five tons of cargo will be authorized through the Leonel Viera 1 Bridge, since Bridge 2 will remain closed.
Heavy traffic should be diverted through route 104. Meanwhile, line buses and excursion buses with the usual route may continue to pass. This was defined this Monday in the framework of a meeting headed by the mayor Enrique Antía, and the general directors of Transit and Works of the IDM, Juan Pígola and Darío Camacho (respectively), in addition to engineers of the IDM, who for maintaining exchanges via Zoom with expert bridge engineers from the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTOP). Work will continue between the technical teams and agreeing with the national body on the final report that will provide a diagnosis of the situation of the bridge to define future repair tasks.
