President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen together with the Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Erika Mouynes, highlight the work of the Juan Díaz wastewater treatment plant, considered one of the largest and most modern works in Central America, in terms of environmental protection and care of the oceans. The foregoing, as part of the commitments of the country agenda with a view to the Our Ocean 2023 conference.
“Here at the Panama sanitation program plant, we have been carrying out different works in the city area since 2001, creating collectors, pumping stations and the treatment plant that we are currently in, to try to return to the river with a better quality”, indicated Max García Supervisor of the wastewater treatment plant of the Panama Sanitation program.
Supervisor García also stated that in addition to collecting all the water from Panama City, the process begins when the water reaches the modular distribution chamber, separating the flow in module one and two, then the fats, sand and , and the solids present in them. Subsequently, the water passes to biological reactors to degrade organic matter.
“We comply with all current environmental regulations that COPANIT 35 2019 has been doing,” declared Max García. Who pointed out that, at the end of the entire treatment process of the vital liquid when passing through the disinfection contact chamber, it passes to the mouth of the Juan Díaz River and is also used for irrigation of green waters and infrastructures.
