President Louis Abinader reported this Friday that the damage caused by Hurricane Fiona in the country “is going to be considerable”, despite the fact that until now there are no precise data on how much the impact caused by the phenomenon amounts to.
In that sense, the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development It is collecting the information in order to establish specific figures on the damage in the coming days.
During an interview with journalist Alicia Ortega via Zoom, the nation’s president summarized the recovery process after a tour of the eastern region of the nation.

Abinader He made a tour last Thursday in the municipality of Sánchez, in this province, where he supervised the operation of the “Health Route” program, with which it is intended to prevent diseases, after the passage of Hurricane Fiona through the national territory.
There, he congratulated the Ministry of Public Health, the National Health Service and PROMESECAL for the preventive plan, as well as the other public institutions for their demonstrated commitment and immediate action. At the same time, he invited the population to take advantage of the services provided.
“The entire government structure, from construction to Public Health, is active in all these areas to bring them back to normal”highlighted the head of state.
The Minister of Public Health, Daniel Rivera, stated that, in the Plazoleta Francisco del Rosario de Sánchez, installed four hospital modules with services supported by the National Health Service and the Ramón de Lara Hospital of the Dominican Air Force, a space where general medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, mental health, vaccination and COVID-19 tests are provided. Of the latter, all those that have been carried out were negative.
On the other hand, the president announced that he will notify the Dominican Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture (CODOPESCA), so that it restores fishing permits in this province and throughout the country.
