Acumar presented equipment to improve the control of industrial effluents

The cleaning of the Matanza-Riachuelo basin has made it partially navigable again.

The National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation (R+D+i) financed new equipment for the Acumar environmental laboratory that will allow “a qualitative leap in the capacity for inspection and industrial control of the Matanza basin -Riachuelo”, reported the agency.

Is about an automatic analyzer that measures the oxygen consumed in the water by microorganisms that break down organic matter and it was acquired through the Argentine Technological Fund (Fontar) within the framework of the project “Development of environmental technologies 4.0” for the inspection and productive adaptation in the Matanza Riachuelo Basin.

The director of the fund, Alejandro Primbas, participated in the first demonstration of the automatic monitoring system for industrial effluents that took place in the offices of the Argentine Chamber of Electronic, Electromechanical and Lighting Industries.

The Adimra Metallurgical Technological Center, the Guillermo Brown National University and three companies from the Argentine Chamber of Electronic, Electromechanical and Lighting Industries (Cadieel) participate in the project.

“We bet on the generation of knowledge that allows us to face the challenges that we face: one of them is to build a new development model that has the environment as a central axis”, said the president of the R&D&i Agency, Fernando Peirano, and added that “if we apply our scientific and technological capabilities to initiatives that seek to clean up the Matanza Riachuelo basin, we will be able to improve the quality of life of thousands of people.”

The implementation of the system, which is not installed in the basin, It will allow maximum efficiency in the control and supervision of industrial discharges to any water basin and Cetem will offer the metallurgical industry the implementation of 4.0 strategies to digitize its productive activities.

Among the objectives of the project are optimize efficiency in environmental control and sanitation, increase productivity and competitiveness, prevent deviations, guarantee the sustainability of industrial processes, etc.

The originality of the project lies in the fact that the solution offers an end-to-end integration from the capture of data at source from the sensors to its remote processing in the management centers with decision-making facilities.

This platform unifies the information from all types of sensors through the development of a particular electronics, as well as through the development of algorithms, integrating visualization and analysis; this solution is currently not available in the local market and therefore there are no patents at the national level.

Advantages include instantaneous and historical information in the monitoring center of the data provided by the analytical sensors installed, support and traceability through indicators that facilitate its management, generating notifications about deviations or alert situations.
