The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) validated a stock reconfiguration of two AM radio stations with coverage in Mexico City and various municipalities in the State of Mexico.
The maneuver is part of a business decision involving the Pérez and Pereda families, surnames with a long tradition in the national broadcasting industry through the brand radiorama and that in the last year they have decided to modify their business plans, as well as to follow separate paths in stations throughout the country in which they had a joint participation.
The stations involved in this process are XEUR-AM 1530 KHz and XEVOZ-AM 1590 KHz, which have coverage enabled to radiate throughout the capital to the city of Toluca, Cuernavaca and the Hidalgo town of Tepeji del Río as squares. limit, according to IFT data.
The companies Latin American Radio AdvertisingSA de CV and Radio Union TexcocoSA de CV are the concessionaires of 1530 AM and 1590 AM, respectively, and these were the companies whose shareholders modified the shareholding structure.
Prior to the changes, businessman Trigio Javier Pérez de Anda and his family owned 49.01% of Radio Publicidad Latinoamericana, while the Pereda family held 80.01% of the Radio Unión Texcoco concessionaire.
After the shareholding restructuring, the Pérez de Anda family takes over 90.01% of the shares that own the 1530 KHz frequency and 53.33% of the 1590 KHz shares, while the businessman Adrián Pereda Gómez it remains with 10% of the first station and 13.33% of the second, which would mean the disappearance of the Radiorama brand of those stations and the consideration from now on of these two families as two different economic groups.
“The members of the Pereda Gómez and Pérez Toscano families have notified the IFT operations that have the effect of separating the joint participations they have in various sound broadcasting frequency concession companies, which would lead to considering the Pereda Gómez family and the Pérez Toscano family as part of different economic interest groups,” said the IFT.
Signature data INRA on audience measurement indicate that the stations had a reach of 7,217 monthly radio listeners in May 2022, higher than the 6,419 listeners a year ago.
