The judge of the Sixth Investigating Court of the National District, yanibet rivasratified the preventive detention of Major General Adam Caceres Silvestreboss of Specialized Presidential Security Corps (Cusep)accused of defrauding that institution.
Rivas made the decision because he understood that Cáceres Silvestre represents a danger to the process that follows the Coral and Coral 5G cases “because of his active military status and the high rank he occupies,” said attorney José Alberto Ortiz, a lawyer who represents the Condition.
The former head of Cusep will serve the 18 months in prison that he was sentenced to on May 10, 2021 at the end of October. Cáceres was arrested on April 24 of last year.
The military’s lawyer, Romer Jiménez, says that they are almost certain that they will have to appeal the ratification of the coercive measure in October, when the law establishes that “it be done automatically”, the judge ordering the dismissal for having served the maximum time provided by the procedural rule.
The former head of security for former President Danilo Medina is accused of leading a network that embezzled the State with more than 3,000 million pesos, a case that is being investigated by the Public Ministry under the name Coral.
Two weeks ago, preventive detention was also ratified for Rossy Guzmán (la Pastora) and her son Tanner Antonio Flete Guzmán, and other defendants in the same file.
Likewise, General Julio Camilo de los Santos Viola (FARD), implicated in Coral 5G, corresponding to the case of corruption in the Specialized Body for Tourist Security (Cestur), whose head, General Juan Carlos Torres Robiou ( FARD), it was also decided in August that he remain in jail.
For the Coral and Coral 5G cases, the Condition with more than 4,000 million pesos.
In the framework, according to the Public Ministry, the defendants hired personnel who only paid less than 30 percent of salary and kept the remaining money.
Also accused in Operation Coral are Police Colonel Rafael Núñez de Aza and Army Sergeant Alejandro José Montero Cruz, as well as Army Major Raúl Alejandro Girón Jiménez.
