The intentions in National Congress to investigate the members of the Chamber of Accounts did not prosper, because in the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate those claims seem unsupported.
The president of the Permanent Commission of the Chamber of Accounts of the Lower House, Rogelio Genao Lanzarevealed that the commissioners decided to postpone the invitation they had planned to make to the plenary members of that supervisory body, because allegedly the complaint filed with the Public ministry it escapes from the constitutional attributions that they have to investigate and control administrative irregularities.
Previously, the reformist deputy had reported that they made the decision to convene the plenary members of the Chamber of Accounts but that they had not set a date for said meeting.
When asked by Free Journal about, Genao Lanza He said that the circumstances are now different because there is now a complaint that was filed with the Public Ministry, so he believes that it is not pertinent to carry out the invitation to those officials.
“With this environment (after the complaint), we believe it is timely to define the situation because there is a new aspect that is beyond our jurisdiction, the administrative and financial part, we have control jurisdiction, in the other, no, and there is another power that was seized. So it is not opportune because one thing is going to be confused with the other, ”he explained.
He referred to the fact that the complaints filed were sexual harassment and not administrative irregularities.
While in the Senate a draft resolution presented with those same purposes became a point of contention between official and opposition supporters as the possibility of approving the creation of a special commission that would take over the issue was aborted.
The situation caused last Thursday to suspend the ordinary session in the High camera due to the abrupt withdrawal of the three senators that make up the bloc of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) as a form of protest against the resistance to the approval of this initiative in order to carry out investigations into the accusations made against the president of the Chamber of Accounts.
Yvan Lawrencespokesman for that caucus, questioned that the Perremeist senator, Pedro Catrain, president of the Permanent Justice Commission of the Senate, sand hastily withdrawn to prevent knowledge of the draft resolution presented for these purposes by the senator of the People’s Force, Dionis Sánchez.
