CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) has decided to change the venue for the next edition of the Copa América of futsal 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, granting Paraguay the status of host that Brazil had until this Tuesday.
“The Directorate of Competitions and Operations reported that, as a result of the sanitary restrictions in force in Brazil to date due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CONMEBOL Copa América Futsal 2022 edition has changed venue and will be held in Paraguay, “the agency reported.
The Copa América for futsal, which will be held from January 29 to February 6, 2022, has been held 12 times and 10 have been triumphs for Brazil, the current champion after its victory in Argentina in 2017. The last edition, in Chile 2019, was not contested due to the pandemic.
“In the coming days, the Directorate of Competitions and Operations of CONMEBOL will give more details about the event,” he declared regarding the new venues, dates and times. The teams will arrive in Paraguay starting January 27.
