Minister of the Presidency follows up on recovery work in Hato Mayor

HATO MAYOR – The Minister of the Presidency, Joel Santos Echavarriaexhausted this Saturday a work agenda with which he followed up on the work carried out in the province Hato Mayor for its recovery, after the passage of Hurricane Fiona.

During the day, the minister visited, together with President Luis Abinader, the municipality of Sabana de la Mar, where he met, together with other ministers and directors, with the main political and civil actors of this community.

In addition, they visited the Las Cañitas and Magua sectors to listen to the needs of their residents, who have been seriously affected by the atmospheric phenomenon. Earlier, Minister Santos had visited the municipality of El Valle.

In El Valle, Santos Echavarría received a report on the current situation in this area, which included progress and needs.

“We are continuing our inspection through the different municipalities and districts of Hato Mayor with the recovery of homes, which is the focus of this weekend, in an operation that the President mounted in the main provinces of the country that have been affected. for the phenomenon,” he said.

Santos Echavarría also met with the mayor of Hato Mayor, Amado de la Cruz Taveras, and Senator Cristóbal Venerado Castillo, to receive information on the progress of the actions carried out since Monday in this province.

At this meeting, Santos Echavarría was accompanied by the director of the National Institute for Professional Technical Training (Infotep), Rafael Santos Badía, with whom he distributed five thousand portions of bread and two thousand of biscuits. In addition, through the Economic Kitchens, more food rations were distributed.

“Food rations continue to be distributed, work continues with the productive sectors so that they can recover quickly,” he said.

The minister also indicated that other priorities have been the restoration of electricity and drinking water. Likewise, he said that most schools will be open on Monday.

On Thursday, after the delivery of 20,000 zinc plates and their respective wood, the minister promised to return to the province that was hit hard by the hurricane on Saturday.

“The president has sent his main ministers to the main provinces affected by this phenomenon to give a rapid response to the population,” Santos Echavarría pointed out.
