Río Chama devastated a section of a road in Colón Municipality

The rising waters of the Chama River swept away a section of the road that leads from Caño Muerto to Puerto Chama, right in the “hole” that was opened by the water flows several months ago. The sector is called La Pelota, Urribarrí parish of the Colón municipality.

According to a report by Geovanny Barrios, Commander of the Fire Department of the Municipality of Colón; in this area the inflow of water is constant and very intense, which is why it makes difficult the work to rehabilitate the retaining wall; because it has rained very often, they increase the flow, attacking until destroying what has been advanced.

A 50-meter stretch of road was carried away by the river

The popular communicator Dilmero Urdaneta reviewed on his Instagram account @Dilmeronews, how the river took approximately 50 meters of roads, leaving that colonese parish isolated, since on previous occasions it allowed the passage of motorcycles, bicycles and on foot. Now it is impossible to communicate by land with the Francisco Javier Pulgar municipality and other nearby communities.

Also the journalist Alex Ducson leaves a video on his Twitter @alex_dukson, where it is visible how the water advances uncontrollably, also affecting crops and some houses. There are still no figures of other material damage, nor have injuries been reported.

The community is waiting for a statement from the authorities, because it is an emergency situation, which went to a higher level because they have no way out, nor can cars enter to help them.
