A total of 29 new bulls with high genetics were delivered through the A Better Stallion Program, during the Community Work Tour No. 114, which was carried out by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, accompanied by the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, in the province of Los Santos.
With this nationwide delivery, more than 1,500 stallions have been distributed from 2019 to date for an amount of 3,613,000 balboas.
The President of the Republic told the ranchers that they have been given some excellent stallions, which will help them improve the breeding stock of their farms, with the success triangle of livestock: genetics, food and health.
He also referred to the economic recovery of the country, and the decision that was made to improve the price of fuel, as a multiplier effect in the different sectors of the country. He added that he likes to face great challenges to serve and that today, despite all the difficulties (wars and pandemics), they are delivering stallions to small ranchers, a “great satisfaction of being able to reach out and help.”
The head of the agricultural portfolio highlighted that today small producers are being responded to, but that the creation of a law and the digitalization of the agricultural sector are also being speeded up, as part of the efforts of the National Government, headed by President Cortizo Cohen, to benefit all Panamanians.
In addition, he made reference to the speech of the Vice President of the Republic, José Gabriel Carrizo, before the UN General Assembly, for advocating world peace, as a formula to eliminate injustice, poverty and hunger; cheap access to medicines and improve climate change.
Miguel Mojica, one of the beneficiary producers, thanked the work carried out by President Cortizo Cohen for supporting the small farmers of Santeño, for having the opportunity to go to the field to be able to choose their stallion.
The National Director of Livestock, Avelino Ureña, said that today 29 stallions were delivered, which have the capacity to cover 25 to 30 cows, important in this sector of the Dry Arch that works well in the dairy area.
During this delivery, which was held at the Farm of producer Víctor Falcón, located in Pocrí, province of Los Santos, farmers from Los Santos, Macaracas, Pocrí, Tonosi, Las Tablas, Tres Quebradas, Valle Rico, Llano Largo and Guararé were favored. , who received stallions of the Gyrolando, Brown Swiss, Holstein, Beefmaster and Angus breeds.
Likewise, it was used to deliver Beffmaster and Angus bulls to producers from other regions such as Montijo and Atalaya de Veraguas, Ocú, Santamaría and Los Pozos in Herrera, La Pintada and Natá de Coclé and Capira, West Panama.
In the province of Los Santos, some 189 stallions have been delivered, through this program that was initiated by President Cortizo Cohen, when he served as Minister of Agricultural Development, with the aim of improving the quality of the herds of small producers in the country with bulls of high genetic breeds.
