The political meeting of the MPP was attended, in addition to former President Mujica, by the mayor of Canelones, Yamandú Orsi, and the mayor of Durazno, the nationalist Carmelo Vidalín, was especially invited.
The meeting, which was characterized by cordiality, was also a strong signal to iron out differences and discrepancies between the government and the opposition in an attempt to repair a political “rift”.
In the act they made use of the word: Yamandú Orsi; the ex-intendent of Florida, the front winger, Juan Giachetto; Carmelo Vidalin, and Jose Mujica.
Decentralization
Both Mujica and Vidalín and Orsi agreed on the importance and need for decentralization.
In this sense, Mujica referred to the need to decentralize, through knowledge and investment. “Because if we don’t decentralize education and money, the rest is verse.”
“We need a multitude of third-tier creative opportunities. In a world that is internationalizing, we have to fight for knowledge and have resources to place people in certain universities. There is a battle for talent,” Mujica said.
He added that it is not a problem of the Broad Front, but a national problem, which affects everyone. “We have to find minimum points of agreement, because otherwise we are left.”
Vidalín: Thank you, president, for giving us the UTEC
In his turn, Vidalín said that there is still some homework to do.
The mayor of Durazno referred to the importance of “working on the training and education of those who will govern the third level so that they know how to be good administrators.”
“I intend for UDELAR to arrive with more presence and more force in the interior. But I would be, as you say, ‘a turnip’ if I didn’t say thank you, President, for having given us the UTEC. And for having given me the opportunity, as a deputy at that time, to have raised the flag within my party to be able to accompany this project, which today allows us to provide equal opportunities, both for those from the interior and from the capital”, sentenced the nationalist Vidalin.
