Banco Hipotecario Nacional donates chicks, grain plants, fruits and vegetables to the “Study without Hunger” program

A total of 100 chicks, seedlings of grains, fruits and vegetables, agricultural tools among other items were donated by the staff of the National Mortgage Bank (BHN) to the CEBG El Harino school located in the Cirí Grande township, district of Capira, province West Panama, contributing to the “Study without Hunger” program, an initiative developed together with the Ministries of Agricultural Development (MIDA) and Education (MEDUCA).

This donation is a support for school gardens to expand and self-management, sustainability and strengthening of healthy school food is promoted, assured the deputy general manager of the bank, Ilychs Morales.

“We recognize that the “Study Without Hunger” project has reached the most distant educational centers in the country, a state macro-project of the Beehive Plan, which is aimed at fighting poverty and inequality, contributing to good nutrition in the teaching process. .

BHN collaborators toured the school garden to learn about the work carried out by the educational community, and also shared a pleasant moment with the students.

For his part, Bladimir Rodríguez, director of CEBG El Harino, pointed out that the school garden has been a great food aid for the students. “This initiative is a good way to eradicate poverty and hunger in our children during their school years, helping to improve their nutrition, development and ability to learn, because we know that if there is no good nutrition, there can be no good learning. ”.

We have managed to guide parents and students on the importance of producing healthy and nutritious food through the implementation and management of school and family gardens.

The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, sanctioned on Thursday, December 5, 2019, Bill 5 of 2019 that creates the “Study without Hunger” program, which offers healthy food and adequate nutrition to students in official educational centers. , in order to improve their performance and academic performance, aimed at benefiting the children of the 300 poorest corregimientos in the country.

“Study Without Hunger” is a program whose strategy is to promote food security and improve the nutritional status of thousands of students through the development of nurseries, school gardens and crops.
