After 48 hours of work by Civil Defense personnel, the remains of pilots Carlos Áñez and Kevin Hayes arrived at El Trompillo airport, where they were received by their families and tax authorities.
“The work lasted almost 48 hours, it has been very arduous. The bodies have been deposited in a special place and they have been presented to the family. Now the instances called by law enter, there are the forensic and the Prosecutor’s Office. After the impact, both people died instantly.“, informed the vice minister Juan Carlos Calvimontes.
The plane with the pilot and co-pilot had left, on Wednesday, from Yacuiba to Santa Cruz, after leaving part of the staff of a company, but their return did not materialize. The control tower lost contact with the aircraft and alerted about the incident.
To determine possible technical failures, a subsequent study will be carried out.explained the deputy minister and noted that his work ended with the rescue.
One of the deceased will be veiled in the city of Santa Cruz and the other body will be cremated.
The two pilots were considered, by their colleagues, as piloting experts. There is still no explanation of the maneuvers carried out. Even Carlos Áñez, a 31-year-old pilot, had communicated 20 minutes before the accident with his wife, to whom he did not report any damage.
The rescue operation was questioned by the Pilots Association who denounced that there were omissions of relief by the authorities and the III Air Brigade, since they state that the protocols in case of these emergencies were not followed.
For example, it was the pilot Miguel Moreno who flew over the area on Thursday and found the crashed plane, sent the new coordinates for the authorities to undertake the rescue.
