Cristóbal ‘Toba’ Zuleta, died in the early hours of this Friday at the Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá, where he was transferred last Wednesday, September 21 from the Reina Sofía Clinic.
The 57-year-old artist apparently died of causes associated with stomach cancer that he had suffered for several years, however, his relatives have not yet issued an official statement on the subject.

‘Toba’ Zuleta was the nephew of the great Emiliano Zuleta, composer of ‘La Gota Fría’ and first cousin of Tomás Alfonso ‘Poncho’ Zuleta.
Precisely representing this vallenato dynasty, the artist appeared on the reality show of the Caracol channel ‘A Otro Nivel’.

His body will be transferred in the next few hours to the city of Valledupar, where his Christian burial will take place.
About ‘Toba’ Zuleta is known that at the age of 13 he began to sing and formed a duo with the renowned accordionist ‘Chiche’ Maestre.
Some time later, he joined the accordion player Juan Carlos Ovalle with whom he recorded a tribute album to his cousin called ‘Poncho Presidente’.
