“For years we have heard about cracks. We, who believe in the need for dialogue and discussion of ideas without grievances or personalizations, are aware that the main problem for genuine dialogue is the asymmetry and violence of power. Inequality, privileges, segregation and impunity are the worst enemies of coexistence and of an integral and full democracy. The model of the current government is a class model, oriented to benefit a few privileged businessmen and that, therefore, harms the great majority of our people, deepening the injustices of the system”, express the sectors of the Front in a statement. .
They also ensure that this is evident in: “The concentration of economic growth, the fall in wages and pensions, the setbacks in rights, and the commodification of public services.”
“The anti-popular and regressive character of the model is what explains why the main policies and reforms try to be imposed without real participation or dialogue, stigmatizing and criminalizing social organizations, unions, oppressed groups, popular movements,” express the six parties and sectors of the FA on your statement.
They ensure that the majority of the people, the workers, the people who live in neighborhoods and localities, regardless of what they vote for, are always open to dialogue and do not live trapped by practices and hate speech. “There lies the pluralism of Uruguayan society, there is our social and political militancy, building frameworks every day, sowing solidarity and fighting for justice, without personal attacks, but without bowing our heads in the face of the arrogance of power.”
“Our alliances are with the people”
“Given the public proposal of Cabildo Abierto to generate a programmatic agreement, which includes the Broad Front, we clearly say that our alliances are with the people and not with political leaders who support the model of inequality, relativize human rights, justify the State terrorism, despise the fight for truth and justice and uphold reactionary, sexist and discriminatory positions”, they underline in the statement.
The six Frente Amplio sectors make it clear that they do not offend people, but they do characterize the policies, discourses and attitudes they support. “And with these leaders we cannot build even the minimum consensus of an ethical cause: that there is no impunity, an indispensable condition of a democratic society.”
