The Ministry of Health provided a new report on the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in the country.
The report provided this Friday by the Ministry of Health corresponds to epidemiological week 37, from September 11 to 17.
The data indicates that 7,440 samples were processed, of which 47 yielded positive results for COVID-19, reaching a total of 716,059 infections since the start of the pandemic in the country.
Regarding the deceased, 3 were registered, reaching a total of 19,583 deaths related to the disease.
Likewise, a total of 14 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 were reported, of which 3 were hospitalized in intensive care units.
Fourth wave is “practically finished”
The numbers reflect that Paraguay maintains a sustained decline in infections and deaths from COVID-19. For the health authorities, the fourth wave is “practically over” and it would be an opportune moment to put aside the use of masks.
Guillermo Sequera, director of Health Surveillance, pointed out this Friday that we are entering another phase of the epidemic in which the infections that occur generate a much smaller impact on the health system and also in terms of deaths.
Sequera assured that the country is entering a plateau due to a notable decrease in the number of infections, so that the fourth wave is “practically finished.”
