This Friday, the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) delivered in its last Vital Statistics report (EEVV), of fetal and non-fetal births and deaths, segment results in the second quarter, year to date 2022 and 2021.

According to the entity, the figures presented for the number of births in the country are on a downward trend, going from 660,999 births in 2015 to 612,228 in 2021, which corresponds to a drop of 7.4%.
On the other hand, births according to the age groups of the mother, indicating the age of women between 20 and 24 years old, are the ones that top the list, reaching a figure of 27.5% with 38,850 for the second quarter of 2022.
However, this figure is down compared to the same period in 2021, where the result was 28.7%, with 42,801 births. The fall is -9.2%.

Regarding deaths, the institution estimated that for the second quarter of 2022 the national total was 66,182 deaths, presenting a drop of -43.6% compared to the 117,399 presented in the same period of time in 2021. By 2022, of the national total, 36,211 deaths were men (54.7%) and 29,960 women (45.3%).
In turn, deaths from confirmed and suspected covid 19 for the year to date 2022 in men, presented a percentage of 7.7%, which shows a reduction of 86.1%, compared to the same period in 2021.
The same way, On the women’s side, there was a decrease of 84.9% in deaths related to the covid 19 virus, compared to the same period in 2021 and reached 6.9% of deaths that occurred between January 1 and July 31, 2022.
