Santiago de Surco has nine candidates registered for the Regional and Municipal Elections 2022. Those elected in this period will be mayors until 2026.

John Palma Aurazo
He is 37 years old and was born in Lima. He has a degree in Administration and Management from the Ricardo Palma University. This is the first time that Palma competes in the election of a public office.

Charles Bruce Montes
He is 65 years old and was born in Lima. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lima. He worked as a congressman of the Republic in between 2006 and 2011.

Gina Galvez Saldana
He is 51 years old and was born in Ica. He has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the Federico Villarreal National University and a bachelor’s degree in Law and Political Science from the Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University.
She has been the founder of the political organization La Molina Solidaria. She held the position of National Secretary for Women and Social Development in Somos Perú.

- On safety matter: offers to buy security cameras and neighborhood alarms. He is 50 years old and was born in Amazonas. He has technical studies in Computing and Informatics at the Instituto Tecnológico del Norte. Since 2022, she is a member of the Purple Party.

Edwin Portugal Villavicencio
He is 55 years old and was born in Lima. He has technical studies in military band at the Air Force Noncommissioned Officers School. This is the first time that Portugal competes in the election of a public office.

He is 63 years old and was born in Lima. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad San Martín de Porres. He has worked in the past as mayor in the period 2007-2010.

What are the functions of the table members?
The members of the table can play the role of president, secretary, third member or substitute. Some of the functions are as follows:
- Check that the material of the ONPE is in good condition
- Set up the polling station
- Post the list of voters on the door of the classroom and the list of candidates in the secret chamber
- Write “Did not vote” next to the names of people who did not attend
- Count the number of people who voted and those who did not
- count the votes
- Fill out the voting record with legible letters and numbers.
