The relatives of the pilots who disappeared during the incident of the plane CP-2024 they set up a vigil outside El Trompillo airport to demand that the rescue work be speeded up. However, a FAB helicopter will only leave this Friday to carry out the search.
The occupants of the aircraft are Carlos Áñez (pilot) and Kevin Hayes Carrión (co-pilot), who had an accident yesterday (Thursday) in the Aimirí mountain range, in the municipality of Charagua, when they were returning from the Yacuiba airport to the capital of Santa Cruz.
“These two people are not valuable enough to the authorities, but their relatives are very important to us. What we ask is that the Ministry of Civil Defense provide us with the Super Puma helicopter to be able to rescue them”, said through tears Elizabeth Carrión, mother of co-pilot Hayes, in telephone contact with EL DEBER
Given this delay, the relatives, friends and colleagues of the pilots YoThey set up a vigil at El Trompillo airport to ask the Bolivian Armed Forces (FAB) to speed up rescue operations, as they indicate that “hours are crucial” for the survival of people.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Civil Defense, Juan Carlos Calvimontes, indicated that this Thursday night the SAR group of the FAB planned the strategies that will be applied in the morning this Friday, when a new helicopter leaves for Charagua to rescue the two pilots.
He pointed out that this day was fulfilled with the function of locating the damaged aircraft, but it was not possible to descend with the helicopter to carry out the rescue due to the strong gusts of wind, the cloudiness and the rain that was recorded.
He explained that another rescue team advanced more than two kilometers by land and is near the scene of the incident, however, the raking is affected because mountain ranges tend to slide when walking on them.
