The educational quality of universities from Argentina once again stood out at the international level, according to the Latin American ranking of the consulting firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2022.
According to the list, six universities nationals are among the top 50 in all of Latin America. This year, the ranking evaluated 418 institutionswhich makes it the largest to date, according to the consultant.
within the universities elected in the country are the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), which ranked eighth at the regional levelthat is to say that it is located in the top 10 of the most outstanding study houses.
For its part, the National University of La Plata (UNLP) ranked 21; followed by Universidad Austral, which ranks 27th; the Torcuato Di Tella University in 37; the National University of Cordoba in 39; and the Catholic University (UCA) in 41.
As for the UBA, the consultant highlighted that according to the world ranking published in June, “it ranks 67th”, which means that “it rose two positions compared to last year and registers a systematic growth in international evaluations since 2014, climbing 142 places in eight years, from 209th position to the current 67th”.
To evaluate the institutions, the British consultancy takes into account components such as “assessments of the quality of research, academic development, teaching, employability of graduates and internationalization”.
In addition, it analyzes more advanced criteria such as “social responsibility, innovation, art and culture, inclusion, environmental impact and learning environment” which makes each institution stand out.
How was the ranking?
The first place in the ranking was occupied by the Catholic University of Chile (UC)followed by the University of São Paulo, the University of Chile, the Tecnológico de Monterrey, the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), the Universidad de los Andes (Colombia) and the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
As for the countries with the most institutions in the ranking, they are: Brazil (95), Mexico (64) and Colombia (61), which represent more than half of all the classified study houses.
