The Venice Baroque Orchestra and the Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená will be this Friday on the stage of the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo performing works by baroque composers such as Vivaldi, Händel and Locatelli.
The Venice Baroque Orchestra, directed and founded in 1997 by the Italian harpsichordist and organist Andrea Marcon, has become one of the most important baroque ensembles and references in the world.

Stages in Asia, Europe and North America have welcomed the influential group, which has also dedicated itself to rediscovering the repertoire of 17th and 18th century masterpieces such as the historical operas ‘Atenaide’ and ‘Andromeda liberata’ by Antonio Vivaldi.
For her part, the Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, who has been recognized for her specialized performances in historical periods of music, has worked alongside outstanding directors such as Pierre Boulez, Gustavo Dudamel and Claudio Abbado.

According to the Teatro Mayor, the artist studied singing and piano at the Brno Conservatory (Czech Republic) and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (Slovakia). The mezzo-soprano has given recitals alongside pianists such as Daniel Baremboim, Yefim Bronfman, András Schiff and Mitsuko Uchida. With the Venice Barroque Orchestra she has recorded two discs with arias by Vivaldi and Händel.
According to the organizers, during the concert, scheduled for this Friday at 8 pm, works by composers Baldassare Galuppi and Alessandro Marcello will also be heard.
