Members of the Single Union of Argentine Tire Workers (SUTNA) carried out a work stoppage and a rally at the headquarters of the Department of Labor Relations of the Ministry of Labor, located at 100 Callao Avenue in the City of Buenos Aires, in within the framework of an extensive conflict that they maintain in demand for a salary increase and improvements in working conditions.

The union started a stoppage of activities for an indefinite period in its three plantsa measure that was accompanied by a camp in front of that headquarters of the labor portfolio, where a group of delegates even stayed in one of the floors of the building.
The conflict has already been going on for five months between wage claims, hearings, strikes and blockades, but it reached its point of greatest tension on Wednesday, after a hearing held at that headquarters of the Ministry of Labor, with the participation of representatives of the Sutna and the Chamber of the Tire Industry, where the companies ratified a salary offer that the union considers “insignificant”.
“At the hearing they presented the same proposal that we have been rejecting because it does not address the workers’ claims. They left the Ministry and for the time being they have not given us any answer,” said the executive secretary of the Merlo branch of the union organization, Juan Anchaba, in statements to Télam.
“At the hearing they presented the same proposal that we have been rejecting because it does not address the workers’ claims. They left the Ministry and for the moment they did not give us any answer “
From the union they decided to lift the mobilization that was scheduled for this Thursday in Plaza de Mayo, and it was decided to concentrate in front of the headquarters that the labor portfolio has on Avenida Callao at 100.
“With the direction of the union of all the sections and members of the directive commission we are inside the building. We’re going to stay until there’s an answer. The comrades are camping outside, demonstrating with different social and union organizations that have come to give their support,” Anchaba said.
As denounced by the union in a statement, from the employers “they objectively try to impose in fact the closure of the 2021-2022 joint venture, totally ignoring the claims of the workers and proposing an insignificant increase in the 2022-2023 joint venture, of the 38%, when the official projections reach almost 100% for that period”.
From the Sutna they described the fact as “an unprecedented grievance” by the employers of Bridgestone, Fate and Pirelli.
In addition, they reported the presence of a “violent anti-union and anti-worker policy” and situations of violence in the workplace that have escalated to “verbal and even physical aggression” by hierarchies.
“The parity, the salary and the working conditions are at stake”expressed from the guild.
