Deputy Eusebio Alvarenga (PLRA-Guairá) urged the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, to dismiss the ministers who are running for elective positions. He also denounced the modus operandi of the Minister of Social Development, Mario Varela, to gain supporters for his campaign through the use of social programs.
“We urge the president to use his powers to remove the Secretaries of State, senior officials, government representatives, who are resource managers, directors of health regions,” Liberal legislator Eusebio Alvarenga said Wednesday.
He cited the cases of the Ministers of Justice, Edgar Olmedo, and of Social Development, Mario Varela, about whom he regretted that they are completely absent from their respective institutions.
“Golden honey Varela, the one who was our Chamber partner. We had approved that his institution have ministerial rank, because we trusted that he would do something, that he would act with patriotism, decency, when he spoke to us about love for one’s neighbor and solidarity, but today he is miserably involved in his political campaign, neglecting of their work, their commitment, their obligation”, he launched.
Alvarenga clarified that it is not a political attack and stated that on a daily basis he receives complaints about Minister Varela’s modus operandi to pressure the public and thus get adherents to his proselytizing project. “If they don’t vote for him, they literally don’t get Tekoporä. With that miserable attitude, using public treasury resources, embezzling the people’s money, running his political campaign,” he also attacked.
