The former Minister of Transport and Communications, Geiner Alvaradoacquiesced to the prosecutor’s request to prevent him from leaving the country for 36 months, in the framework of the investigation he faces for allegedly being the operator of a criminal organization that the president would head peter castle.
During the hearing, the lawyer of the former head of the MTC, Percy Ipanaqué, announced that his sponsor would acquiesce to the request of the Public Ministry, after days ago he handed over his passport.
For his part, the provisional supreme prosecutor Marco Huamán affirmed that there would be a flight risk “intermediate” by Alvarado, after last September 17 he requested that the State security police service be withdrawn after his trip to Chiclayo.
“The absence of the country could lead to the effectiveness of the investigation being frustrated. Especially if there is a real possibility of being able to leave the country because it has the resources to do so”warned the representative of the Public Ministry.
Finally, prosecutor Huamán explained that the alleged criminal organization they are investigating has “a particular difficulty”since some high officials are involved “still active”.
In his speech, the former minister assured that his behavior has always been collaborative and that he will attend as many times as he is called to testify. After that, Supreme Judge Juan Carlos Checkley announced that the resolution will be issued within the legal term.
The Public Ministry requested said restrictive measure to protect the investigation, shortly after Congress censored Geiner Alvaradofor the alleged irregular acts that he would have committed when he was Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation.
The former official is investigated for the alleged crime of criminal organizationalong with Castillo Terrones, for allegedly having arranged for officials and businessmen to benefit from projects tendered in the Municipality of Anguía (Chota, Cajamarca), Chachapoyas (Amazonas) and other locations.
