The Judiciary scheduled the final arguments of the parties and the defenses of the former congressman Kenji Fujimori and others prosecuted in the trial for alleged vote buying to avoid the vacancy of the former president Peter Paul Kuczynski (PPK) until next November 2.
In the first place, the court chaired by Inés Villa Bonilla scheduled the support of the final arguments of the parties for the days September 28 and October 5, 12 and 19starting at 09:00 hours.
Meanwhile, the defendants in this process may exercise their self-defense on October 26 and November 2. In this way, the trial – which began in January of this year – is reaching its final stage.
It should be noted that in this Wednesday’s session the former parliamentarian Kenji Fujimori –the main defendant in the case and for whom the prosecution has asked for 12 years in prison– was questioned by the court.
This trial also includes former congressmen Guillermo Bocángel, Bienvenido Ramírez and the former adviser of Kenji Fujimori, Alexei Toledowho are accused of having offered works to the deceased ex-legislator Moisés Mamani.
According to the tax thesis, a plan would have been organized to try to buy votes from congressmen in order to avoid the vacancy of the then President of the Republic Peter Paul Kuczynski.
For this reason, he requested the payment of a fine of S / 130 thousand for the younger brother of the former presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori and the disqualification for 183 months from the exercise of public office.
According to the prosecution, the recordings made would show that the defendants would have tried to convince Moisés Mamani to vote against the vacancy of Kuczynski Godard.
In exchange for his vote, he was offered “Financing of projects, programs and state works, granting of jobs in the State, judicial protection, obtaining illicit profits from the collection of percentages for works, etc.”.
