National Festival “Voices for Peace” praises choral singing on September 23, 24 and 25

Festival Nacional “Voces por la Paz” enaltece el canto coral estos 23, 24 y 25 de septiembre

The General Directorate of Fine Arts and the Dominican National Choir will present the third edition of the Choral Singing Festival “Voces por la Paz” 2022, with the purpose of fostering ties between different choral groups in the country and bringing choral art closer to the entire society.

The great event will be held on September 23, 24 and 25, in the “Manuel Rueda” room in the building of the Fine Arts schools, with the participation of groups from different classifications, including BanReservas, Koribe, choirs from the Teatro Orchestral, of the Central Electoral Board, of the National Conservatory of Music and of the O&M University.

Also, the Male Choir “Julio Alberto Hernández” and the National Choir of Dominican Children, among others, will be on stage.

The National Festival “Voices for Peace” will bring together more than 400 participants, including children, youth and adults, divided into more than 15 groups, including the Dominican National Choir, host of the event.

Through this beautiful artistic platform, the General Directorate of Fine Arts wants to continue sowing the seed of choral singing throughout Dominican society and for the public to sing and enjoy a weekend full of poetry, music, workshops, conferences and may fall more in love with choral singing and take advantage of all its benefits.

In addition to the concerts, the program includes a very solid educational base with workshops, conferences and the screening of a film with a theme consistent with the purpose of the festival. The activities will be totally free for everyone.

“In this third National Festival `Voces por la Paz` you will discover a very special edition, with the purpose of promoting peace and solidarity through choral groups”, said Elioenai Medina, principal director of the National Choir, pianist, instrumentalist of the National Symphony Orchestra and professor at the National Conservatory of Music.

In that sense, Medina called on all Dominican families to meet at this fantastic cultural festival that seeks to highlight the noblest values ​​of humanity through sung poetry.

“We want to emphasize the peace that we long for in our hearts and society. This experience will have a positive impact on the lives of many, that is why we hope that the greatest number of people are exposed to this cultural manifestation that will mark a before and after in the choral festivals held in our nation”, Medina affirmed.

Through singing, the choirs will discuss the importance of art, culture and artistic education as a vehicle for the noblest achievements of the human being.

The National Festival `Voces por la Paz` has been consolidating itself as one of the most important choral events in the region, due to its artistic quality and the bonds of brotherhood that characterize the trade of collective singing.
