The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo continues with its repressive escalation against Nicaraguans and blocking freedom of worship. In his new attack, he ordered the National Police to prohibit the evangelical church from celebrating Bible Day throughout the national territory.
In a statement, released on social networks, the National Council of Evangelical Pastors of Nicaragua reported that “due to guidelines from the civil authorities, the 453rd anniversary of the Translation of the Bible into Spanish will not be celebrated.”
The Police denied permission for this evangelical activity on the grounds of “safety for the participants.” Bible Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of September each year.

Given the restrictions, the evangelical leaders indicated that the commemorative act for Bible Day will be held in the different temples nationwide without going out into the streets, as was done in previous years.
They also urged pastors and evangelicals to “raise prayers to God so that we can live quietly and peacefully.”
The prohibition of this Christian activity occurs in a context of religious persecution in Nicaragua. The repressive siege of the Daniel Ortega regime on this occasion reached the Evangelical Church, which adds to the abuses that the dictatorship has ordered against the Catholic Church in the country.
Recently, the processions in honor of San Jerónimo and San Miguel Arcángel, patron saints of Masaya, were canceled by the National Police.
