Pronouncement. Gonzalo Alegría, candidate for mayor of Lima in the 2022 regional and municipal elections, must give his defenses to the party — which is running him — Together for Peru (JP) about an alleged complaint by his son against him for psychological violence and sexual.
Through a statement released on its social networks, Together for Peru mentioned that, having learned of the complaint made by the Nativa web portal about an alleged act of family violence by Gonzalo Alegría, the National Committee of Ethics and Discipline of the party asked the applicant to present their defenses “in a documented manner.”
“Through this, and other means, we request Mr. Gonzalo Alegría that within the term established in our ethics and discipline regulations present his discharges in a documented manner regarding the complaint that has been circulating of an alleged act of sexual violence against his son,” the document reads.
In this sense, Together for Peru expressed its rejection “of any form of violence, even more so when it comes to its most reprehensible expression, such as sexual violence, and even more so when it occurs within a family nucleus.”
On the other hand, the left-wing organization recalls that Alegría Varona joined last January 5 in order to run for mayor of Lima, so the economist “limits himself to developing his specifically electoral campaign.”
Finally, JP declares before public opinion, sympathizers and militants that they are “respectful of due process.” “Immediately after the releases are presented, we will make decisions that correspond to us,” says the organization.
