The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) seeks that Juan de Dios Nochebuena Hernández, former rector of the Francisco I. Madero Polytechnic University, of Hidalgo, submit to an abbreviated trial or criterion of opportunity. He is accused of misuse of powers and powers for more than 185 million pesos, related to the case of the Master swindler, sources close to the defense indicated.
The sentence handed down in an abbreviated procedure is a way out where the defendant admits his guilt so as not to be put on trial and obtain a reduced sentence in exchange, through an agreement between the parties. On December 23, the beginning of the intermediate hearing was postponed, where the legal defense of Nochebuena Hernández, as well as the federal Public Ministry would propose the evidence that they will present in the trial, and the control judge of the federal justice center based in the Reclusorio Norte would decide which ones it will admit.
However, lawyer Rodrigo Maldonado Ríos requested that the proceedings be postponed for 30 days, since the prosecution allegedly had not provided him with copies of an additional volume of the investigation.
Nochebuena Hernández was linked to the process in 2019. Judicial authorities blame him for having signed an agreement in February 2016 with the then general director of land use planning and attention to risk areas of Sedatu, Armando Saldaña Flores, during Rosario Robles’ administration Berlanga.
