For next Monday, September 26, the date for the reopening of the Colombian-Venezuelan border is set, with which it is also sought to normalize bilateral relations between both nations.

Upon arrival in Venezuela, the Minister of Transport, William Reyes, said that an agenda is being prepared for a meeting between the president Gustavo Petro and Nicolas Maduro this September 26, the day of the opening of the border, but added that details of the time have yet to be fine-tuned.

Reyes confirmed that that day there will be a first flight between Colombia and Venezuela of the Conviasa airline that will be landing in the morning and that will bring a Venezuelan delegation to Colombian territory.

It is expected that the parliamentarians of Venezuela and Colombia will meet this Sunday between the state of Táchira and the town of Cúcuta, in the department of Norte de Santander, within the framework of the reopening of the common border, scheduled for Monday, September 26, The president of the Venezuelan Legislative, Jorge Rodríguez, reported this Tuesday.

“We have agreed, both parliaments, the Congress of the Republic of Colombia and the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, to hold a binational meeting on the border between the state of Táchira and the town of Cúcuta, Colombia, where we will meet”said the deputy in a statement to the media.

He assured that in the next few days they will announce the agenda of the joint work that they have planned, but that, for sure, they will be present in the dividing strip on Sunday, September 25, on the eve of the reopening of this border closed to the passage of vehicles from 2015 and with restricted circulation for pedestrians for long periods.

Rodríguez assured that the meeting will be attended by the board of directors of the Venezuelan Parliament, accompanied by deputies from the border areas of the states Táchira, Zulia, Apure and Amazonas, and that they hope to find a representation of similar characteristics by the Colombian Legislature.

“It is a way to accompany this normalization process and also to put the support of both parliaments so that, through their legislative agenda, we can contribute to and strengthen these normalization processes that both governments have undertaken”he added.
