Political parties have the Single Background Window (VUA) for electoral use, in order to select candidates for their internal elections with a view to Regional and Municipal Elections of 2022, scheduled for the first Sunday in October this year.
This platform allows the groups to know the antecedents that the applicants have regarding convictions for intentional crimes in force and in condition of res judicata, national and international arrest warrants and debts for maintenance obligations or legal receivables.
In addition, it provides information on debts for civil compensation contracted with the State, tax before the Sunat or municipal (taxes, contributions, rates, excise and fines), property (movable, immovable and vehicular); as well as other information of interest.
Consequently, the selected applicants will go to the internal elections, scheduled for May 15 and 22, according to the two defined modalities (affiliates or delegates).
Subsequently, the party organizations will make up their list of candidates and may request their registration before the Special Electoral Juries (JEE) to participate in the October elections.
The single window has been active since December 22, 2021, as provided by Law 30322, and as established in the electoral schedule of the regional and municipal electoral process, approved by Resolution 0932-2021-JNE.
Electronic box
The National Elections Jury (JNE) sent letters to the legal representatives of the political organizations, through the corresponding electronic box, in order to provide them with the access codes so that they can enter the system and make inquiries about the background of their possible candidates.
However, several legal representatives do not have an electronic mailbox, especially those of regional movements, to whom the aforementioned code has been sent via email.
