The 16th Spring of Museums starts today (19th) and runs until September 25th. The annual season is marked by events in which museums, memory institutions, spaces and cultural centers across the country promote activities around the same theme. This year “Independence and Museums: 200 Others, Other Stories” was the theme chosen with the proposal to renew the perspectives on this historical fact, from the perspective of cultural diversity, freedom of thought, inclusion, plurality of experiences and interpretations.
According to the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), in this edition there will be 777 participating museums and 2,285 events scheduled throughout the country, with activities such as exhibitions, shows, theatrical performances, seminars and mediated visits, among others. Along with the celebrations of the Bicentennial of the Independence of Brazil, Ibram suggests a reflection on what other senses and independences Brazil and Brazilians have lived in these 200 years.
