Madrid Spain.- The leader of the Ladies in White, Berta Soler, was arrested again on September 18 by repressors of the Cuban regime as she left the organization’s headquarters in Lawton, Havana.

“Paramilitary repressors by order of State Security arrest Berta Soler Fernández, leader of the Ladies in White, as she leaves the organization’s headquarters located in Lawton-Havana. The arrest was carried out around 12 noon today Sunday 9-18-22 ”, informed her husband, the opposition Ángel Moya, through Facebook.

Moya shared a video and images of the rest, where Soler can be seen carrying a sign that read “Do not vote for the Family Code”which will be taken to a popular referendum on September 25.

Since January 21, 2022, when the Cuban dissident announced that the Ladies in White were reactivating “the campaign of confrontation for the freedom of all political prisoners without exclusion”, Berta Soler has been detained for 24 consecutive Sundays.

Last week State Security agents detained at least 14 members of the opposition group, to prevent them from attending mass, from where they ask for the release of Cuban political prisoners.

In August of this year the International Institute on Race, Equality and Human Rights (Race and Equality) presented a petition before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) to declare the international responsibility of the Cuban Government for the continuous violations to the rights of the 55 women who make up the Ladies in White group.

The document asked the IACHR to formulate recommendations to the regime on the Island that allow “to put an end to the prolonged and systematic persecution implemented against Ladies in White, and each and every one of its members. In addition, compensation was requested from the victims and their families, and to adapt laws, public policies, procedures and practices to international human rights standards, to guarantee that women activists in Cuba can demonstrate, demand changes, congregate and mobilize without being violated. ”.
