Former President Mauricio Macri assured tonight that the attack against Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner was an “individual” event, carried out by “a group of crazy people” and, faced with the possibility of generating a meeting with the former president, he pointed out that “dialogue is essential.”

“It is clear that it is something individual from a group of crazy people, that it is not politically orchestrated. From what I have read it is evident,” Macri expressed in dialogue with LN+ regarding the assassination attempt suffered by the vice president on the night of September 1 in the vicinity of her house in Recoleta.

And he compared it to two situations he went through during his term: “This is not the attack we had with María Eugenia (Vidal) in Mar del Plata as soon as my government began, which could have killed us. Or in (Villa) Traful some time later ” , said about the stones that official vehicles received in 2016 during acts of his Government, both in the coastal city and in Patagonia.

Regarding the possibility of a meeting with the Vice President, he avoided a direct answer and marked: “Dialogue is something fundamental in society.

“I wish there was sincerity, recognition, self-criticism,” he added about the head of the Senate and twice president.

When asked by the journalist, he said that “heI would answer a phone call to Cristina”, although she confessed that “all the conversations I’ve had with her have been frustrating”.

In addition, regarding the episode in which Fernando Sabag Montiel pointed and fired a firearm centimeters from the face of the Vice President, Macri assured that the first thing he felt when he found out was “shock”.

“I heard it and I couldn’t believe it” he said, adding that “instantly” after repudiating the fact, “relief” appeared that “it had not gone beyond an attempt.”

At that point, Macri scored: “I believe that the attack existed, it happened”and underlined the importance that “Let’s all take what’s going on seriously and lower the level of aggression and personalization.”

Regarding the threats that he denounced having received in recent weeks, Macri said that “These days my custody has become firmer” and said that he suffered “a lot from the loss of freedom in the golden cage (as president) during the four years in Olivos.”

On the other hand, the former president referred to the country’s economic situation and assured: “I no longer want to live in a country that has no currency, because the rulers spend on anything. Stealing is also appointing people in the State who have no tasks , is stealing taxes from the people”, and criticized the “governors who collect taxes on everything that moves, to pay a new gnocchi that is a relative of theirs”.

He also pointed out the flag carrier airline, Aerolineas Argentinas: “We don’t have to pay for a bus that flies from the state. We don’t put in another dollar. If they can’t live with the tickets they sell, it will disappear. If there are other airlines that They do it: Flybondi, Jetsmart, Latam. They get by with what the traveler pays.”

Along these lines, the journalist Luis Majul pointed out that these privatizations “generate a lot of people on the street, security forces and, eventually, deaths. Do they bank it?” he asked.

“The leadership has to bank it. It has to bank whatever comes,” replied the former president.

Regarding who will be the presidential candidate of Together for Change (JxC) for 2023Macri said that he believes “in the competition”, and in that sense he indicated that the PASO elections “is something positive, in that competition there will be tension, but it will be done with respect”.

“The primary process will develop a leadership that will have the respect of Argentines,” he added.

“The three leaders who have been proposed in the PRO are very well planted: Patricia (Bullrich), Horacio (Rodríguez Larreta), María Eugenia (Vidal). In the order you want, so as not to make any kind of difference. I am helping all three,” he said.

In this regard, he stressed that the three candidates “are much better off than they were a year ago“, and pointed out: “I see Horacio better planted in front of what he wants to do, clearer and more forceful. I see Patricia as more solid, she has to broaden her opinion to other issues besides the security issue. María Eugenia is returning from that traumatic departure from the province (from Buenos Aires), understanding how to negotiate with Peronism and be more firm.

Regarding leaders of other political parties that are within the JxC coalition, such as Gerardo Morales and Lilita Carrió, the former president said that “each one is responsible for explaining to our voters the aggressions they carry out.”

“I am no longer president, I do not have to explain what others say. Let each one take charge,” he said.
